For those with little ones, you’re no longer surprised as to all the types of stains that seem to get on the freshly cleaned carpet. One stain that may seem somewhat puzzling to remove is grass stains. After you’re done scratching your head in wondering how grass stains even got on your carpet, your next question is how you should clean the stain. There are several ways you can tackle grass stains and Ameribest Carpet Cleaning will share a few of these methods with you.
One of the simplest methods is to use diluted laundry detergent with water. Keep in mind, this method works best with a fresh stain. The longer the grass stain sits, the harder it is to remove. You may need to try other options if this one doesn’t work. Mix together ¼ teaspoon of laundry soap in 1 cup of cold water. With a white cloth dab the cloth into the mixture. Starting on the outside of the stain, be sure to blot at the edges and work your way inward. Avoid scrubbing at the stain. This will just spread it further. Continue to blot at the stain until it is gone. If the stain remains, try an alternative cleaning method.
Start by vacuuming up the carpet around the stain. With a cloth apply a tiny amount of laundry detergent on the stain much like the first method. Then rinse the laundry detergent with water. Afterward, use a dry cloth to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Next, apply an ammonia-based cleaning agent. Again use a cloth to blot onto the stain. Then pour white wine vinegar onto the stain and again, blot at the stain. Once again rinse the stain and cleaning agent out of the carpet by blot a damp cloth with plain water. Use a dry cloth to help absorb the liquid out faster.
What won’t Oxiclean work on right? When it comes to cleaning grass stains Oxiclean works great. However be careful not to use too much or it could bleach your carpet. All you need to do is mix one teaspoon of Oxiclean in a cup of cold water and pour the mixture on the stain and let it soak on the stain for about five minutes. Then use a dry cloth to blot at the stain and at the same time remove much of the liquid from your carpet. You may want to then pour some cold water onto the area to help rinse and remove as much of the Oxiclean as possible. Use a dry cloth to absorb the liquid out.
All of these methods should work on removing that puzzling grass stain from out of your carpet. Keep a few things in mind when cleaning any stain: one never scrub at a stain on your carpets. Gentle blotting is the way to go. Another thing to remember is to use a white cloth or paper towel. Colored cloths or even paper towels can leak the dye in them, right onto your carpet creating an additional stain to deal with. Depending on the type of dye used, it may not come out of the carpet.
