March 27, 2019

Sharing is caring!

As the spring months start to get closer more and more people are taking on crafting projects and home improvement. The weather makes you want to open up the windows and start to declutter the house. When you start to do that you may start to see things that need to be touched up and upgraded. When you use paint in your project you want to do all that you can to keep it off the carpet. You can avoid a spill by taking some plastic or cardboard down in the work space. You also can be even more safe and take the project outdoors. There are some projects that must be in the house and that is when you are painting the walls or when you are unable to set up a station outside. When you have the painting project in the house be sure you are prepared to remove any paint that might be spilled on the carpet. This is a process that you want to make sure you do right so that you do not end up making a larger mess.

Ameribest Carpet Cleaning Outlines Remedies to Remove Paint from Carpet

Remove Excess Paint Splatter & Spills: When you drip paint on your carpet you want to make sure that you do what you can to remove as much of the wet paint as you can. The best way to do this is to have some wash clothes that you are okay getting paint on. You will likely want to throw them out after you clean the wet paint up. You can use the dry cloth and gently dab at the spot. This will help to pull the paint off the carpet and prevent it from spreading out any further. You want to be very careful when removing the excess so that you do not spread the paint to create the mess larger. Make sure that you push straight down and do not rub the area. You will also need to be ready to replace the rag as you need to. Once you have removed the excess it is best to let the rest of the paint dry so that you can clean it without spreading it out.
Pick Off Any Dried Paint Chips from Carpet: When the paint is dry you usually can use a card of butter knife to gently agitate the dry paint. The paint will then chip away from the carpet and allow you the ability to remove it without causing more damage. Once you have the chips removed as well as you can you can use the vacuum to pick up the chips and pieces that have been broken away. You can repeat the process several times as long as you are careful and do not cause damage to the carpet fibers.
Use WD-40 to Clean the Paint Stain: When you are done you will see that there is still a stain that is left on the carpet. You want to try and use WD-40 and spray it on the stain that is left. Then you let the cleaner sit on the spot for about 20 minutes. Then you can use a clean cloth to dab at the spot and rinse it out if you need to. You want to repeat the process if necessary as long as you are careful to not over saturate the spot.
